After taking a wait and see approach through rehab, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman announced that starting pitcher CC Sabathia will end his season to undergo surgery on his right knee next week. The team remains hopeful that Sabathia will recover from the arthroscopic debridement procedure in time for spring training next season. Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure and a very common course of treatment for mechanical joint injuries in professional athletes.

Knee Surgery in Los Angeles
Dr. Steven Meier of Meier Orthopedic Sports Medicine is one of the most sought after specialists for the best knee surgery in Los Angeles and has extensive experience with cases like Sabathia’s. Experts like Dr. Meier often prefer arthroscopic knee surgery for their patients because of advantages such as:
- Reduced recovery time
- Less scarring
- Higher success rates compared to traditional open surgery
- Less pain through recovery
If the procedure works for CC Sabathia, who is scheduled for knee surgery in Los Angeles next week, it’ll save him from the more serious microfracture procedure which could potentially end his career. “He tried the rehab side of it, and obviously that didn’t work,” Cashman said. “If he had three different options, that was the least. Now, we are on the middle side of this thing, the clean up of the knee, and hopefully that is good enough.”
With any luck CC will be one of the many athletes and regular folk alike who have bounced back from knee surgery in better shape than ever!
